La Ninfea

Ensemble La Ninfea

Creative ensemble for early music from Bremen

"The Bremen ensemble La Ninfea [...] is one of the most vital and original baroque groups in Germany. In its concerts, La Ninfea not only delivers brilliant and highly virtuoso interpretations of music from the 17th and 18th centuries. Time and again, the ensemble also presents very special program concepts and presents itself as a musical storyteller." (Radio Bremen)

With a core line-up of 4 musicians, La Ninfea realizes projects with a focus on music of the 17th and 18th centuries in project-related, variable line-ups ranging from duo to chamber orchestra. Ensemble La Ninfea enjoys working across genres and in creative mediation formats or is dedicated to the rediscovery of unjustly forgotten repertoire.

Ensemble La Ninfea ist eines der kreativsten und besten Alte-Musik-Ensembles in Deutschland

Ensemble La Ninfea

La Ninfea (Italian the water lily) “is one of the liveliest and most creative early music ensembles in Germany.” (Radio Bremen)
The ensemble feels just as at home in renowned venues such as the Musikverein Wien or the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg as it does in small music societies or schools. This is because La Ninfea is convinced that music belongs to all places and can fascinate everyone, everywhere. La Ninfea‘s work focuses on concept-based programs, often developed as interdisciplinary projects with puppetry, text or dance, and thus reaches various people interested in culture in a direct and creative way. Historically informed performance practice, detailed research and creative communication do not contradict each other, rather combination they are the driving force for the ensemble. “This is how music should be performed: as if the ink wasn‘t yet dry, spontaneous and fresh, but with the mostprecise research beforehand.” (Ö1)

Trailer „Gentleman for a Day"

An eventful day as a gentleman in London around 1700 with music by Handel, Playford and Purcell

Our Programs

La Ninfea offers a wide range of different programs: here is a small foretaste. You can find more in the menu “Programs“

Szenic / Performance

with puppetry, with dance... a little more than a concert!

Our interdisciplinary programs “The Day, the Cicada sang”, “Kokopelli - a strange bird" and “DANZAS – from Taboo to Triumph” combine music with puppetry, acting and dance, offering a unique, cross-genre experience for different age groups.

Concept / Storytelling

with speaker or moderation as an informative and exciting story concert

The experiences of the man in the iron mask, our musical guide to immortality, a perfect day as a London gentleman in Handel's time and much more awaits you in our moderated concept programs and story concerts.

Ausgrabungen

längst vergessenes Repertoire vom Staub der Jahrhunderte befreit und schwungvoll dargeboten

La Ninfea has also made a name for itself over the years with “excavations”: the sensation of the first recording of the recorder sonatas by A.H. Schultzen, the suites by Monsieur Toinon, the cantatas by A.M. Bononcini... there is a treasure hidden in almost every one of our programs. In this category, however, they appear in heaps, so to speak!
